British Prime Minister Theresa May is facing a rebellion within her own Conservative Party, after a majority of her own MPs voted against a planned vote to leave the European Central Bank.
May told reporters Monday that the vote in the House of Commons would be called as soon as possible.
The government will be asked to back the vote, but it could be postponed or overruled by Parliament, which could also trigger a vote of no confidence.
The vote comes as May faces pressure from her conservative Conservative Party over her handling of the Brexit negotiations and the election of U.C.L.A. president Kevin Faulconer.
May also faces a rebellion from her own Labour Party, which has promised to hold a snap election to replace her if she does not step down.
